Yolanda Shanley Runnels

Yolanda Shanley Runnels

She was planted on earth in Lubbock, Texas and bloomed to heaven in Colorado Springs, Colorado at age 70 on July 18, 2022.  She was diagnosed with COPD and was incredibly strong and brave for the past several years.  She passed peacefully in her sleep with her daughters by her side holding her hands.

She was a beloved mother and a loving grandmother, family was most important to her. She loved Mexican and southern style foods and loved to cook, garden, and watch every western movie and television show ever made. She would challenge everyone (and win) at backgammon and cribbage. She loved to travel and could talk the ears off of anyone about her adventures. Most people were charmed with her southern accent, personality, and sparkling blue eyes. She was quick-witted with a great sense of humor. She will be sorely missed and her legacy lives on with her children: David, Angela (Robert), Tonya (Greg); grandchildren: Joshua, Ashley, Robert, Acadia (Justin), Amoriz, Isacc, Isabella, Lucyann, Abbi and Amanda; and great-grandchildren: Justin Jr. and baby boy currently incubating. She is survived by one sibling, Ricky, in Texas. She also left behind her pup Odie who loved her fiercely. All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace and undying love and caring for them. Yolanda was preceded in death: by Billie Jo (mother), Sammy (father), siblings: Deborah, Tausha, Sammy, Sandra, Odell, Garland.

Yolanda Runnels Celebration of Life was on September 3, 2022 at the Shallowater Community Center, Shallowater, TX.
